Shine

I apologize for my negligence in writing. That is not to say that God has not been working…because through all of this Covid stuff, He has revealed himself in magnificent ways through His Word. Like the sun, it has and will always, shine bright. And I’d like to share just a taste of that with you today.

Over the past 6 months or so, I have been studying the book of Luke…the life of our Lord, and I’ve learned a few things.
One thing I’ve learned is that I only thought I knew about Jesus! What a phenomenal man he was in scripture! I won’t even attempt to go into detail. But after study of this book, two things stood out about him.

Two things are true

1) He stayed true to his mission. No matter what happened to him. The religious leaders of the day hated him and wanted him killed. His own disciples didn’t really understand his real purpose until the very end. His followers were hoping he would be their revolutionary messiah and deliver them from the hand of Roman oppression. People were pulling at him to be and do something he was never meant to do.
However, he came to earth to do one thing and he did it.
He stayed true to his mission.

2) He loved people. Especially the outcast…the lame, the sinner, the leper. He touched those no one else would touch.
He spoke to those no one else would speak to, and dined with those thought unrighteous.
People flocked to him in droves hoping for a miracle, just one touch of His healing hand.

He never turned anyone away.
Ever.
He loved people.

Are they true for you?

And so I encourage you to do the same, my friends. Stay true to your mission. What is it that God has called you to do? Have you done it? Are you doing something you were never meant to do? Stay faithful to your calling. Stay true to your mission.
Love people. It’s easy to love those who love you, but do you love those who can’t, or don’t, love you back? Do you really, truly, love people?
I have a sticky note up on the wall of my desk. I see it every time I look up.

“Remember to do things for people who can’t do things for you.”

Stay true to your mission
Love people
You are the light of the world. You are meant to give light.

“In the same way, let your light shine before others so they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Matt. 5:16

Shine bright.
Our world certainly needs it.
